A bit of a quandary.

wardrobe1

I thought I should explain why my blogging has been fairly sporadic lately. Aside from my lack of time/energy, the main reason is my lack of photographer. While I was home for Christmas I made my mum take outfit photos for me but once I went back to uni, I didn't have anyone to do it.

I haven't really told any of my friends at uni about the blog, mostly because I only met them a few months ago and I don't know what they'll think. I often get comments about being 'stylish' or - more often - 'quirky' and that's nice and everything but I don't want them to think I'm some fashion obsessed egotist. I mean, from the outside, won't it just look like I'm saying: "Hey, can you take some photos of me so I can put them on the internet and show the world how unbelievably stylish I am?" Which, of course, is not what I'm trying to do at all. I started blogging because I was spending so much time following other people's blogs, I wanted to join in. To properly be part of the blogging community. But I'm pretty conscious of how it might look to anyone who isn't part of it. Add to that the fact that I actually kind of hate having my picture taken and get ridiculously awkward as soon as anyone takes a camera out.

Any advice? I should just ask someone, right? And care less about what people might think? And just generally get over myself?

Discuss.

  3. I totally get what your saying no one knows about my blog they just don't really get the concept of them if I mention them. I make do with a self timer haha but any of your good friends would probably be happy to take them for you! xx

  4. I felt exactly the same but eventually just caved and asked a friend, who is lovely about it. I think it's worth it just to ask someone to take them for you - noone so far who knows about my blog has been a dick about it!

  5. I felt, actually no, I still feel the same way. I know that people wouldn't really get why I blogged, which is why I feel awkward talking about it and don't really mention them. But I have told my friends and they're happy with it and if I stop in the street and say 'Wait, I need to take photos!' they just laugh and let me get on with it, and sometimes take them for me. I even managed to get my friend into blogging!

    Good luck!

  7. I love your blog and honestly hope it doesn't affect you. I just tend to take my photos by myself anywhere around my house with a tripod. Thats a great way to control how your images look without anyone judging you!

  8. Ask or invest in a tripod! My blog's all over my fb so most people know about it, I feel awkward to start with but I get over it. x hivenn

  9. I totally understand you - I'm never really confident about blogging neither, Although when I met people who got to know me via the blog and my magazine work, they generally think it's cool. So probably we should worry less ;)
